This book is a must for a6000 users. While you can probably learn all about the a6000 through reading the manual, reading online blogs/articles, watching YouTube tutorials, it's great to have all that information at your fingertips.The book goes through the basics of the camera. What all the buttons do, what things are called. Then, in each chapter he goes through with more depth on all the different features of the camera. It is logically organized and very digestible. I've had my camera for a while and have learned things here and there but there was quite a bit of information that made me think "Ahh! that's how that works!"The other does delve into videography and photography towards the end of the book which I thought was unnecessary. I sort of wish those chapters were excluded to keep the cost down of the book and instead briefly direct readers to other resources to further learn about photography. Overall, a must have!

I give the book 4 stars because it contains a wealth of information on the Sony A6000. Everything you could want to know about the camera is in this book. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the author is so technical it will be difficult for an newcomer to digital photography to easily digest. And he will be explaining something in chapter 5 (for instance) and will refer you to the same topic back in chapter 1 or ahead in chapter 10. Information on any one topic is typically spread over 3 or 4 locations in the book, and the index is not very detailed or helpful to find all the information for any one subject. I have been in photography since the mid 60's and still find some of his discussion confusing. And I can only read 12-15 pages at a time before I get overloaded and have to put it down. If you want to know your Sony A6000 this is the book to get. Just beware that it is highly technical and LOADED with detailed information on each function which can be confusing at times. Illustrations and photos throughout the book are excellent and very helpful.

This book is filled with valuable information! The Sony users guides assume too much knowledge on the part of the user. I bought the camera to attach to a telescope. But the Sony-provided information on how to do that is very skimpy. Right after purchasing the camera, I took it with me to an astronomy expedition that included professional photographers. I asked for advice and was told the a6000 was indeed a good one for that purpose and was shown how to set some of the parameters. But the camera is very feature rich with only a few buttons, a wheel, and a dial to navigate them, much more complicated than the older Nikons, Sonys, and Olympus cameras I have used. It is all too easy to become lost in the feature forest. With the aid of this book, I now know how to set the parameters to take good photos with a telescopic lens as well as how to use the many other features it offers.I have the Kindle edition. The only complaint I have is that, like most Kindle books, the text can be zoomed but not the graphics. While the graphic displays of the camera are very sharp, the numbers in green dots in Figure 2-2 are hard to discern on the Kindle screen without a magnifying glass. In spite of that, I still prefer the Kindle version to the book version.

Busch does what he promises to do. This is better than any other manual or online tutorial I have found. I like it because when I am in the field and go, "Hmmm...Isn't there a way to______" I can pull out my phone and access my kindle copy and find out right then and there. This work is in depth. So if you know a bunch, there are places you can skim or do a little refresher course. Busch does a great job writing for both the first timer and the enthusiast. Great pictures and diagrams.

To my great frustration, this book was out of print. I was finally able to purchase it. I now have a easily understood resource that explains the capabilities of my favorite camera. Unless you are a photography expert, you need this book as the companion for your camera.

This is a really good guide for serious photographers with the A6000. The Sony manual is not very useful but you'll know everything you need to know about the camera, if you read the book thoroughly. I also highly recommend watching the DVD that usually comes with the camera package.

Great detailed manual for the Sony Alpha a6000. He leaves nothing out. I have been waiting for this book for a long time because the older one was unavailable right after I bought my camera in Dec 2015. UGH. But it was worth the wait.

The Sony Alpha a6000 is a complex camera, a bit daunting for an "advanced amateur" like me, moving from a point-and-shoot camera. This book made the transition very easy. The book is easy and fun to read, and it never talks down to me and doesn't bury me in jargon.

It is definitely needed if you own a6000 camera. I believe there are some errors in the book. For example, the Memory feature seems to be explained wrong. Memory Recall mode is used to describing saving the memory settings and Memory mode is used to describe recalling the memory. I understand Sony does use counter intuitive nomenclature but I think in this case the book is wrong.But overall there is no other resource which is as comprehensive as this one. Think of it as part of admission to a6000 club.

Essential reading for every teenager. This book should be required reading in every high school economics class. Of course it never will be. I learned more information that is actually applicable in the real world than I did in Micro and Macro Econ in college. I like the writing style. After reading this again recently, one could be faulted for thinking that inflation is no longer a concern. We will one day enter an inflationary cycle again, and when we do, this book can help your kids to be prepared mentally and financially.

This book is amazing! It was a required reading for my children's homeschooling curriculum. It is so well written and they learned so much about economics. It is recommended for middle schoolers, but I read this to my 6th and 3rd grader and the 3rd grader was so interested in this material and understood most of it! I have been telling all my friend's about this book. Strongly recommend this book if you want to give your children (or yourself) a basic understanding of economics. Something EVERYONE should have!

A sign of a genius is the ability to explain a "complex" subject in simple terms using basic language. This author is a genius. This book will change the entire way that you look at your day-to-day life as a participant in the American economy. You will actually laugh when you read the "Wall Street Journal" or listen to either a politician or "talking head" discussing the economy after reading this book. This book demonstrates that "The Emperor Has No Clothes". The only reason "The Man" makes economics complicated is to keep the masses from understanding what is being done to them.

This book lives up to its reputation! It is a fantastic explanation of economic basics, clear and easy to read, entertaining and well written. I especially like how the material is presented systematically and in small, understandable chunks via letters from an economist uncle. I appreciate how the author gives historic examples of the principles discussed, and shows how the economy has influenced history. The adults in the house learned from this book, too!

Watch a video of adults interviewed on the street on basic economics. They do not understand where money even comes from, let alone what function the Federal Reserve Serves. If you want your kids to have a concise, clear understanding of economics (which, our government would rather they not have), I would absolutely recommend this book over any other. Clear, good illustrations, synopsis of history of money and corruption (seems they go hand-in-hand, no?). I highly recommend this book.

Fabulous book with the clearest explanation of the cause of inflation and the businesss cycle. These ideas can be hard to wrap your head around, but this book makes it so clear and simple. What is inflation? What causes booms and busts? What do people mean when they talk about "sound money"? All these questions are answered, with a clear writing style that an 8th-grader could easily understand. If you are looking to move past a CNN cartoon understanding of the economy, start here. To boot, the book is chock-full of extra stats, charts, references, etc, that make it a superb starting point to learn more.

This book is outstanding. It explains money so clearly and how governments (the producers of money) over the centuries have treated it. He explains inflation and recession in terms that a novice as green as I am can easily understand. Since money is the ultimate fungible medium for everyone on the planet, understanding how it is influenced and controlled is essential for us all--children, workers, and retirees. We all count on money, so we should learn who affects its value and how that therefore affects us. Maybe it's just I who have been in the dark so long that I have found this book so enlightening that I would give it six stars on a scale of five (even though Amazon won't let me). But if I'm actually not that divorced from the mainstream, then I suspect others may find it as exciting as I did.

This is a brilliant book for all ages. I got it to read to my 7 year old daughter, but I am learning just as much as she is. I love the real life examples in the books. For example, when the book talked about runaway inflation, it gave quite a few examples of items that have been affected by this type of inflation. This will be a book that we will read together many times over. I am excited to try other books in this series.

I really enjoyed reading Cyber Wars. The author got the hackers and the hacked to talk. Really brings the tension, high stakes, and highs and lows to life. It was one thing to hear about these in the news, and another to now read the rich details in (e.g., the chapters on Anonymous and on the Sony hack were very exciting and illuminating).Being new to the topics of hacking and security, I appreciated the clear lessons at the end of each chapter. On the other hand, if you’re a security researcher or policy maker, I could imagine that the detailed, linked references in each chapter might be quite useful. Finally, the discussion of possible future threats and the nature of the challenges we face was very satisfying. (Though, clearly, the issues themselves are quite serious; “there is more and more code running more and more devices, yet code is not getting any safer.”)For me, some of the most eye-opening parts were about the rise of state-sponsored attacks and, equally, the threats from common internet-of-things devices. Also, reading about the human (individual) failings and the organizational failings in these attacks was very interesting.Overall, a very compelling and enlightening book, written in a bright and stimulating writing style.

The only problem I have with Cyber Wars: Hacks that Shocked the Business World, by Charles Arthur is that these breaches really didn’t shock the information security community or the business world. These stories are simply narratives of firms that didn’t take information security seriously and suffered the consequences.In this interesting book, he details some of the most devastating information security events of the last few years. These include Sony, HBGary Federal, John Podesta’s phishing attack, T.J. Maxx, and more.While all of these stories have been told before at a high-level, Arthur digs much deeper and details the issues that led to the breaches. The book makes for some compelling insights around the importance of taking security seriously. There are countless lessons learned that can be gleaned from this book. While not a technical book, Arthur writes of the technical issues that led to many of these breaches. This is a very readable and engaging book that makes for a great reference to an information security awareness reference.John Podesta was chairman of Hillary Clinton's 2016 U.S. presidential campaign, and as the book notes, it is rare that a hack changes the course of history. In the case of Podesta’s falling for a phishing attack, it did indeed.There is some also humor in the book. In detailing the devastating Sony Pictures hack, he quotes then Sony Pictures Entertainment CEO Amy Pascal as telling Sony employees not to read any of the breached emails, because of their potentially divisive effect, both internal and external to the organization. Pascal was oblivious to the Streisand effect, and it’s likely the request had the opposite effect on her employees.For anyone who is struggling to get people, be it management or the like, to take information security seriously, Cyber Wars: Hacks that Shocked the Business World makes for a great wake-up call.

Not only all your years-long work can be compromised with a click, but also you can further affect other people part of the network.Cyber Wars by Charles Arthur explains this sort of threats in a very easy way, still keeping the relevance of the topic. Through examples of cyber attacks that shoked the world in the last decades, predominantly from the business domain, the ways in which such threats operate and the psychological and professional profiles of the perpetrators are simply outlines. I was absorbed within the pages, enthralled with subject and engrossed in the history. I found it a fascinating book. I wish that all history books were so inviting and intelligent. The book strikes an impressive balance between conveying information and just being a good read.
