I was looking for something that was not a cookbook as much as a guide to oysters. And this is about as complete as you will get in a book. They could have added a how to video on shucking is the only thing that was missing.OK, the shucking instructions are a bit sparse, but you probably know what needs to be known if you are buying this book. You either shuck your own, or you enjoy watching someone do it for you.There are pictures of the oysters, how oysters are gown, and oyster lore, and pretty much everything else I would want at a really great price.This is they book to get if you would tie your spouse to the bed to trick them into giving up the last oyster, which the theme of a French Oyster advert.Enjoy this with a dozen of the best and some nice white wine.

Heard an interview (on Boston's public radio station) with the author; Immediately ordered the book while sipping on my ice coffee in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot!The book is intelligent, understandable and beautifully designed. In fact, I decided to make it a Christmas gift to myself!If you love and appreciate oysters, this is your book!

I'll have to update this after my spouse opens it for his birthday.The book is nice size and looks to be a pretty decent book. It comes wrapped in a thin clear plastic so I wasn't able to look through the book but after the 31st I'll be able to update review.

What a beautiful book. The photos are amazing. And the descriptions of the oyster industry, and the reasons why they have different textures and flavors will be interesting to the oyster lovers. I am giving as a gift with an oyster knife and glove.

Good learning tool to evaluate your proofreading and editing skills if you get a NEW book with the CD ... great layout in the book. THE BOOK is clearly well-written and has a good design, and layout that is easy to follow! It can provide you with some great hands-on experience! But I have never seen the CD (i.e., I can't evaluate that part). Just keep in mind, that there's a somewhat newer version on Amazon that was published in 2010. I was able to find a 2011 teacher's edition elsewhere, so there are newer versions.

Proofreading and editing marks are taught through a lot of examples and exercise problems. To do all the exercises and application pages took me about 1 hour or less for each chapter. Easy to get through and a great resource for college.

This book is GREAT!! It has helped me a lot with my basic grammar skills. It explains a lot of basic grammar rules that I didn't even know myself. IT has helped me write better essays for my teachers.

The book was shipped very quick. However, the book's edge was damaged. The accompanied disc was broke beforehand. Find out after opening the package. Can't return because the package was opened.

A very good book that I've used in my copyediting course for several years. Haven't found the CD-Rom to be useful, but the book is great. Clear explanations, good exercises for students to do.
